Our decision to select nutrition care for the first statement was influenced by concerns raised in major national surveys, that many older people receiving care in different health settings were undernourished. Although there were many reports on nutrition care, there was no single guide to best practice that focuses exclusively on the role of the registered nurse working with physically frail older people. We wanted to demonstrate that the nurse's role is pivotal to working towards positive outcomes in nutrition care.
